It’s been almost a month since I first hit the road.
I’d set off intending to write everyday but truthfully I’ve just needed this time to think. Not even about anything specific, more that I just needed the time to unwind my mind and remember what it means to think “for” oneself again.
The first major realization came with resounding clarity as I hiked one morning through the magical mountains of the Great Smokies…
why did it take so long to do this?
There will be many entries to come on this topic but it was what brought with my first breath of renewed freedom, something I hadn’t felt in a very, very long time…
As I inhaled my next breath, I realized it didn’t really matter, what mattered was that I was here now, standing on the precipice of a new life, filled with new adventures and a deepening commitment to explore the boundaries of self so I can redefine, or at the very least, I can return to the many parts of myself that I either lost, forgot, sacrificed or hid for one reason or another along the way.
This blog is NOT intended to be a series of hokey, public, self inquiries. If nothing else it’s simply a way for me to return to one of my greatest joys…sharing stories from the many amazing things that happen along the way.
From poetry to gear reviews, ethno/anthrolopological analysis to travel tips and personal tribulations, I hope simply that my writing gives you something you need too. Some info. An insight. Some inspiration or maybe just a vicarious connection to memories and dreams. Every moment of our lives offers us the opportunity to step up, step away, stop and seek.
So, here’s to new beginnings and new adventures in the strangest and craziest and most beautiful of times.
